I will try these beef noodles. Good luck with your search! I just moved into a new apartment yesterday.

In NYC? I think I read that you were moving in here somewhere. It must be nice to have it over with. We are having a couple issues - I'd buy a smaller apartment close to the 1, 2, 3 below 96th on UWS. She wants to look up in Harlem. We'd also get more apartment on the UES. I'm willing to look near where she works (Union Square) but we're mostly priced-out of that area. Two other things - 1) we are spoiled being 2 blocks from 72nd 1,2,3 and Fairway, and 2) we don't have to move, the landlord loves us and will do anything we ask within reason. The apartment is small but perfectly laid out. The staff, all from Colombia, is astonishingly efficient. The kitchen is small, but separate from the living room. I won't bore you with a list of our other requirements. Oh - and we both used to sell real estate, so we know pricing and won't overpay. Looked at something for $745k this morning that should be listed $595, mostly based on the shitty bathroom you'd have to rebuild. I knew it was OP, but not by that much.

Yep! It is very nice to have it over with.
I was on 96 st before but I'm up closer to west 125th now. Pre-war building with an elevator, railroad style with 800 sq. ft newly renovated with dishwasher, AND washer dryer, we did really well. My girlfriend was on the UES previously and we actually have more space and a way nicer place for a good bit less than she was paying over there. Moving in with my gf for the first time, and we're both loving it so far.
Good luck!

You'll be fine - the secret is a door that one of you can close to get away from the other one. It's worked for us. And we noticed - up where you are it's more likely to get a W/D in the apartment. The Holy Grail for Manhattanites. Here, laundry in the basement works too. It's hard to argue with 74th and Amsterdam.

Quite. We looked down there too, but this feels like a home.

That's the most important thing. Here feels like home as well. And we're lucky - the rent is very reasonable due to the fact that, since October 2001 (with a few years off living with my ex in another apartment) I, and now us, have paid the rent on time and not asked for anything unreasonable. Minor drip under the dishwasher, I shoved a restaurant tray under that had to be emptied twice a week. I said no problem, owner was there five days later to install a new one. Best landlord I've ever had.
